At 23 Ambleside Retreat, we offer more than just a place to stay—we provide a tranquil sanctuary for all, from families and couples seeking a getaway to contractors and long-term visitors needing a comfortable home base. Just 70 meters from a pristine, unspoiled beach, a slow 2-minute walk across the road, our accommodation is designed for your peace of mind. Enjoy uninterrupted power and water for your comfort and convenience with our integrated solar and water tank solutions. 

While we offer optional breakfast lodging, our primary goal is to provide a comfortable and affordable escape. We have six units: a ten-sleeper holiday home, two self-catering cottages, a sea-view apartment, and two budget rooms inside the main house. Book one, or all of them together for up to 19 guests.

Four Sleeper Apartment

This is our premier self-catering unit, offering magnificent views of the ocean, garden, and pool. Located on the first floor and accessible via stairs, The Flat is the perfect place to unwind. It comfortably sleeps four guests, making it ideal for families or small groups.

• Bedroom: One double bed with ample hanging and cupboard space.

• Living Area: An open-plan lounge with a smart TV, two single beds, and a high table with four barstools.

• Kitchen: A fully-equipped, open-plan kitchen for all your self-catering needs.

• Bathroom: A modern bathroom with a large shower.

Two Sleeper Cottage 

Designed for a cozy stay for two, Cottage 1 provides a comfortable and tranquil retreat. While it is not a full self-catering unit, it includes everything you need for quick meals and hot drinks.

• Layout: An inviting open-plan living area with a double bed.

• Amenities: A fridge, microwave, and facilities for making coffee and tea.

• Outdoor: A private patio with a braai for enjoying an outdoor meal.

Three Sleeper Cottage 

This self-catering cottage is a great option for contractors, long term stays, couples or small families. It comes with a full kitchen, allowing you to prepare your own meals during your stay.

• Sleeping: A double bed,  a single in the lounge and with the option to add a single bed for a child.

• Kitchen: A full kitchen with a gas stove.

Ten Sleeper Holiday Home 

Our spacious, welcoming holiday home sleeps 10, ideal for families and larger groups. It has 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms — one en-suite to the master bedroom, a second down the hallway — plus a separate toilet.

A Fravega split-system heat pump now serves the open living area of the holiday home:

It covers the living room where everyone gathers; the bedrooms are not air conditioned.

Triple Purple Budget Room 

A budget room inside the main house, sleeping three: a double bed, a single, and its own TV. It is the smaller and cooler of our two budget rooms, and the one that stays comfortable through a summer afternoon. Single-night stays are welcome.

Please note: this is a budget option, so there is no private bathroom. You share a full bathroom (separate bathtub and shower) down the hallway with other guests, and you use the communal kitchen, which is shared with the owner and other guests staying in the main house.

Triple Blue Budget Room 

A budget room inside the main house, sleeping three: a double bed and a single. It is the larger and brighter of our two budget rooms, with sun on it right through the afternoon, and it has a desk — which makes it the one to ask for if you are working as well as resting.

Two things to know: it has a screen with streaming Netflix rather than a broadcast TV, and the afternoon sun that makes it lovely from May to August also makes it warm on a summer afternoon. From December to February you may prefer the Triple Purple Budget Room.

Please note: this is a budget option, so there is no private bathroom. You share a full bathroom (separate bathtub and shower) down the hallway with other guests, and you use the communal kitchen, which is shared with the owner and other guests staying in the main house.

• Sparkling Swimming Pool: Take a refreshing dip in our pristine swimming pool. It's the perfect spot to cool off on a warm day, relax with a good book, or simply soak up the sun.

GOOD TO KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK

A few honest notes, so there are no surprises when you arrive.

Bathrooms in the Holiday Home — The Master Bedroom has its own en-suite. The Purple Room, Blue Room and Sunroom share one large family bathroom, plus a separate guest toilet in the hallway. Perfect for one family or group travelling together; worth knowing if you're booking as separate households. Both cottages and the Apartment have their own private bathrooms.

Hot water — The main house and cottages run on solar-powered electric geysers, so you still have hot water during an outage. The Apartment has a gas geyser, the one thing here not on solar. If the water runs cold there, the bottle has simply run out — tell us and we'll swap it straight away.

Pets — Dogs are welcome in both cottages and the Apartment, at no extra charge. The Holiday Home is not pet friendly. Small to medium dogs; the property is fully fenced and the garden can be divided with gates.

The Apartment is upstairs — Best view on the property, reached by a flight of stairs. Not ideal if steps are difficult.

Mosquitoes — We're a coastal garden property, so there are mosquitoes in the warmer months. Plug-ins are provided in every unit.

Television — Smart TVs with Netflix. No DStv, no local channels.
